Tips For Writing A Successful Business Plan

Ebay Business Plan: Tips For Writing A Successful Business Plan

Writing a business plan is important for every business. It is the key to the business, identifying what you want to do, what you predict your profits to be and sorting out your customer service.Tips For Writing A Successful Business Plan

You may think that if you are writing a business plan for your eBay business that you will have to write something quite different in order to make money on eBay.

However, an eBay business plan is really very much the same, if not a little simpler. For example your eBay business plan, like any business plan should include information on product selection, inventory management, and purchasing, pricing, order processing and customer service.

Product selection will be pretty much the same as with any other business except that eBay does not allow few products, this is not likely to limit your choice too much.

Inventory management can be done with software as it would be done in any other business but you could use eBay’s specially designed software if you wish to.

Purchasing will be the same as with any other business.

Pricing may be slightly different as you have the option with eBay to auction items as well as selling them at a fixed price.

If you auction items then you will not be able to determine the prices but you may be able to predict them and you can certainly calculate what your minimum selling price will be as this will be your starting price for your auction.

Order processing and fulfilment should be quite simple. You will need to comply with eBay’s guidelines as to timescales but as with any other business you will want to ship items as soon as you can.

Customer service is probably the last main area that you will need to include in your business plan for your eBay business.

This is very important as there is likely to be a lot of competition on eBay and the better a service you can provide, the more likely you are to get repeat business.

This is the same in any other business. So you can use a template for any business plan to help you set up your business plan, which will help to make the process a great deal easier.

If you are still concerned about writing a business plan for your eBay business venture, you will find that there are lots of information 1000 online about it.

There are so many sellers on eBay now… that a whole lot of people will have written eBay business plans and you are sure to find the information that you need.

4 Steps To Start And Run A Successful Ebay Business!

4 Steps To Start And Run A Successful Ebay Business!

Thousands of people have turned their dreams of working full-time from home into a reality. The Internet in general and auction websites in particular make this possible, and today it’s easier than ever before to be your own boss and earn good money doing something fun. If you’re ready to begin selling your way to big profits, then continue reading about how to start and run a successful eBay business.

The first step on your journey to starting a successful eBay business is getting a feel for how the site works. Most of us have won or at least bid on an auction at some point, but things are a bit different from a selling standpoint. It would be helpful to organize a few test auctions so you can learn how to set a minimum bid, add photos, receive payment, pack and ship the product, and leave feedback for the buyer. These are things you’ll have to do all the time, so you’ll have to know the process backward and forward.

The second step in getting a successful eBay business off the ground is to decide what you want to sell. You can either specialize in a particular product (such as diet pills or acne cream) or basically run the same auction over and over again, or you can sell a wider variety of merchandise (such as movie or sports memorabilia) and set up different auctions for each item. Lots of important factors go into this decision, including the current market for whatever you’re selling and your ability to obtain a steady supply of the product at low prices. I would caution against buying huge inventories right off the bat, however. Wait until you’re well on your way to a successful eBay business before sinking too much money into the process.

The third step in running a successful eBay business is learning how to deal effectively with bidders (i.e. customers). This is crucial because your dealings with customers will be recorded in the form of a feedback rating on every transaction. Potential bidders can see your score and comments from past auction winners regarding things like how promptly you replied to emails, how fast the product was shipped out, how well the product was packed for shipping, and the condition of the item compared to the description in the original auction. Low feedback scores can scar 1000 e off future customers and hinder your efforts to build a successful eBay business, so it’s really in your best interest to go out of your way in this area.

And finally, in order to have a successful eBay business, you must take it seriously and treat it like a job rather than a hobby. Work hard, periodically evaluate your progress, and continually try to improve and streamline your operations. It might take a while to see positive results, but by following this advice, success will come!

there’s a myth about eBay, people will buy anything you have to sell. In theory that’s true. But you can’t make a fortune selling things that you don’t use anymore. An online garage sell is still a garage sell. So if you decide that this is gonna be your business then spend a little longer researching what are you gonna sell.

Popular stuffs

Sometimes the most popular things on eBay aren’t the best way to start. for example if you look for what is hot on eBay this days, you’ll find iPhones, Wii, Xbox 360, and so on. This items are authentic best sellers but if you can’t sell cheaper than the rest, it’s going to be pretty difficult to make a profit from selling one of those.

Pick a very specific categorie and target to a specific kind of person. On eBay this wiil be easier.

The Babies market

No, you’re not gonna sell babies, but people wiil always be fond to buy things for their babies and expend a lot of money on baby things specially when they have their first baby. So try to find unique products for babies and you can make a pretty decent profit with this.
Electrical Products

Everybody dreams to be the first to have the latest technology available. And many people are eager to get their hands on those gadgets that will make their life easier. Computers, laptops, printers, cameras, plasmas, blue ray. It might be a problem compete on price though. So make sure to choose carefully those products that you can profit from.

Hobbies

This is a money making niche, there are so many people willing to spend incredibles amounts of money on their hobbies. It can be a little problematic to find a good dealer but it’s a most profitable market.

An eBay Glossary, Understanding the eBay’s terms

While you are trying to make money on eBay have you expierence some issues trying to understand what people say on eBay? Well no need to worry anymore, even some of the jargon is really like a CIA code, and you don t understand it until someone’s told you what it means. Let me guide through this obscure path to the eBay s Lingo.  Bid: You Bid when you tell eBay’s system the maximum price you want to pay for an item. Dutch: Is a kind of auction where more than one of an item is available, yes you can buy more than one… Feedback: These are comments positive or negative left about other users on eBay (your love or heat to the buyers/sellers goes here). Mint: in perfect condition. Non-paying bidder: a bidder who wins an auction but does not buy the item (bad thing, really bad thing). PayPal: an electronic payment method accepted by most sellers (even I do). Rare: used and abused on eBay, now entirely meaningless, but somewhere in time were use to refer to an unique item, nowadays everything is rare. Reserve: the minimum price the seller will accept for the item. Shill bid: a fake bid placed by a seller trying to drive up their auction’s price (bad thing, really bad thing). Snail Mail: the post, which is obviously very slow compared to email. Sniping: bidding at the last second to win the item before anyone else can outbid you, this is difficult to do, but sure is fun! Abbreviations. AUD: Australian Dollar. Currency. BIN: Buy it Now. A fixed price auction. BNWT: Brand New With Tags. An item that has never been used and still has its original tags. BW: Black and White. Used for films, photos etc. CONUS: Continental United States. Generally used by sellers who don’t want to post things to Alaska or Hawaii. EUR: Euro. Currency. FC: First Class. Type of postage. GBP: Great British Pounds. Currency. HTF: Hard To Find. Not quite as abused as ‘rare’, but getting there. NIB: New in Box. Never opened, still in its original box. Collectors usually to their search with this keywords NR: No Reserve. An item where the seller has not set a reserve price. OB: Original Box. An item that has its original box (but might have been opened). PM: Priority Mail. PP: Parcel Post. SH: Shipping and Handling. The fees the buyer will pay you for postage. USD: United States Dollars. Currency. VGC: Very Good Condition. Not mint, but close. You can find more about this in the eBay Glossary page here. Find more about eBay Acronyms here Here is the entire list indexed by eBay The PowerSellers generally avoid using these terms unless you run out of space in the item s title. Think about the buyers, many of them are not familiar with these terms so if your niche is general public in order to make money on eBay don t overdo it, or the people will only read a lot of Mambo Jambo and skip to one who understand. What You Can not Sell on eBay

Most people think that you can sell anything on eBay. But let me put a big ‘ALMOST’ in the sentence. You can sell ‘almost’ anything on eBay. Yup there are some policies that you must understand before you try to sell.

Of course there some obvious things banned like drugs or stolen goods, and most of the banned items are because there is a law against it. But if you review the list of the items you may say naaaah how could it be! (but trust me there are in the list because people list those items, and other buy it).

Here is the Complete List of Prohibited and Restricted Items

For example the ‘Used Clothes’ category you may sell Diaper covers (as long as it has been cleaned and the listing clearly states that the clothing is used) But you can’t under any circunstance sell used underwear, so if you are planning on selling your last season thongs, don’t.

Embargoed Goods and Prohibited Countries. This apply to US mostly, you can’t sell items from prohibited countries, yes, that’s apply to the cigars and the Rum from Cuba. and also you can’t sell things to them thats mean no computers to Sudan, and no Plutonium to South Korea.

Human Remains and body parts, this may sound obvious but will be surprise on how many people has tried to sell a kidney.

Also you can not sell your Brad Pitt’s autograph if you don’t have a certificate of authenticity.

You can’t sell your Pokemon’s toys if there was intented to sell only in Japan.

You can’t sell firearms, assault weapons or knives, sorry Rambo you simply can’t.

No, you can’t sell eagle’s eggs either or panda’s fur.

No, you can’t sell to a phillipine guy a ticket for today’s madonna’s concert in New York.

You can’t sell New Zeland or Disneyland

What Could Happend if I try to sell those things

Well beside the fact that the auction will be cancelled you may also suffer for this things:

  • Listing cancellation
  • Limits on account privileges
  • Account suspension
  • Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings
  • Loss of PowerSeller statusm

As you can see, you may check on the prohibited and restricted listed before you list your precious items to sell.

eBay, a Chronology of Success

EBay: A chronology of success.

1995 September, eBay was founded, by a man called Pierre Omidyar. He started a site called ‘AuctionWeb’ as an online marketplace, and wrote the first code for it in one weekend from his garage. This was one of the very pioneer’s auctions websites in the world.

The name ‘eBay‘ comes from the domain Omidyar used for his site. His company’s name was Echo Bay, and the ‘eBay AuctionWeb’ was originally just one part of Echo Bay’s website at ebay.com. The first thing ever sold on the site was Omidyar’s broken laser pointer, which he got $14 for.

The site quickly became massively popular, as sellers came to list all sorts of odd things and buyers actually bought them. Relying on trust seemed to work remarkably well, and meant that the site could almost be left alone to run itself. The site had been designed from the start to collect a small fee on each sale, and it was this money that Omidyar used to pay for AuctionWeb’s expansion. The fees quickly added up to more than his current salary, and so he decided to quit his job and work on the site full-time.

1996 It was at this point, that the feedback was added, to let buyers and sellers rate each other and make buying and selling a Little bit safer.

1997, AuctionWeb’s – and Echo Bay disappear and became ‘eBay’, which is the name that people had been calling the site for a long time. He began to spend a lot of money on advertising, and had the eBay logo designed. It was in this year that a toy version of Big Bird from Sesame Street was sold as the one millionth item.

1998 was known as the year of the dotcom boom. EBay became a big fish in the internet world, big guys on management and strategies were call to action. A public offer on the stock market encourage the people to sell more than collectables and son eBay became the place where you can sell anything large or small. At the end of the dotcom boom many sites face his annihilation due to their condition of dotcom bubbles but eBay survived becoming stronger.

1999 eBay go worldwide, launching sites in the UK, Australia and Germany. eBay bought half.com, an Amazon-like online retailer.

2000 eBay introduced Buy it Now

2002 eBay bought PayPal, an online payment service

2006 eBay opened eBay Express which was created as a regular internet shopping site, but it was closed on 2008 because people used to bought selected items from eBay and mirrored on eBay Express with a standar price.

2008  eBay announced the unveiling of their Selling Manager Applications programme (SM Apps). The programme will allow approved developers to integrate their applications directly in the eBay.com interface

2008, the company had expanded worldwide, counted hundreds of millions of registered users, 15,000+ employees and revenues of almost $7.7 billion. After nearly ten years at eBay, Whitman made the decision to enter politics. On January 23, 2008 the company announced that Whitman would step down on March 31, 2008 and John Donahoe was selected to become President and CEO. Whitman remained on the Board of Directors and continued to advise Donahoe through 2008.

Pierre Omidyar has now earned an estimated $3 billion from eBay, and still serves as Chairman of the Board. Oddly enough, he keeps a personal weblog at http://pierre.typepad.com. There are now literally millions of items bought and sold every day on eBay, all over the world. For every $100 spent online worldwide, it is estimated that $14 is spent on eBay – that’s a lot of laser pointers.

Now that you know the history of eBay, perhaps you’d like to know how it could work for you?
