Tips For Writing A Successful Business Plan

Ebay Business Plan: Tips For Writing A Successful Business Plan

Writing a business plan is important for every business. It is the key to the business, identifying what you want to do, what you predict your profits to be and sorting out your customer service.Tips For Writing A Successful Business Plan

You may think that if you are writing a business plan for your eBay business that you will have to write something quite different in order to make money on eBay.

However, an eBay business plan is really very much the same, if not a little simpler. For example your eBay business plan, like any business plan should include information on product selection, inventory management, and purchasing, pricing, order processing and customer service.

Product selection will be pretty much the same as with any other business except that eBay does not allow few products, this is not likely to limit your choice too much.

Inventory management can be done with software as it would be done in any other business but you could use eBay’s specially designed software if you wish to.

Purchasing will be the same as with any other business.

Pricing may be slightly different as you have the option with eBay to auction items as well as selling them at a fixed price.

If you auction items then you will not be able to determine the prices but you may be able to predict them and you can certainly calculate what your minimum selling price will be as this will be your starting price for your auction.

Order processing and fulfilment should be quite simple. You will need to comply with eBay’s guidelines as to timescales but as with any other business you will want to ship items as soon as you can.

Customer service is probably the last main area that you will need to include in your business plan for your eBay business.

This is very important as there is likely to be a lot of competition on eBay and the better a service you can provide, the more likely you are to get repeat business.

This is the same in any other business. So you can use a template for any business plan to help you set up your business plan, which will help to make the process a great deal easier.

If you are still concerned about writing a business plan for your eBay business venture, you will find that there are lots of information 1000 online about it.

There are so many sellers on eBay now… that a whole lot of people will have written eBay business plans and you are sure to find the information that you need.

4 Steps To Start And Run A Successful Ebay Business!

4 Steps To Start And Run A Successful Ebay Business!

Thousands of people have turned their dreams of working full-time from home into a reality. The Internet in general and auction websites in particular make this possible, and today it’s easier than ever before to be your own boss and earn good money doing something fun. If you’re ready to begin selling your way to big profits, then continue reading about how to start and run a successful eBay business.

The first step on your journey to starting a successful eBay business is getting a feel for how the site works. Most of us have won or at least bid on an auction at some point, but things are a bit different from a selling standpoint. It would be helpful to organize a few test auctions so you can learn how to set a minimum bid, add photos, receive payment, pack and ship the product, and leave feedback for the buyer. These are things you’ll have to do all the time, so you’ll have to know the process backward and forward.

The second step in getting a successful eBay business off the ground is to decide what you want to sell. You can either specialize in a particular product (such as diet pills or acne cream) or basically run the same auction over and over again, or you can sell a wider variety of merchandise (such as movie or sports memorabilia) and set up different auctions for each item. Lots of important factors go into this decision, including the current market for whatever you’re selling and your ability to obtain a steady supply of the product at low prices. I would caution against buying huge inventories right off the bat, however. Wait until you’re well on your way to a successful eBay business before sinking too much money into the process.

The third step in running a successful eBay business is learning how to deal effectively with bidders (i.e. customers). This is crucial because your dealings with customers will be recorded in the form of a feedback rating on every transaction. Potential bidders can see your score and comments from past auction winners regarding things like how promptly you replied to emails, how fast the product was shipped out, how well the product was packed for shipping, and the condition of the item compared to the description in the original auction. Low feedback scores can scar 1000 e off future customers and hinder your efforts to build a successful eBay business, so it’s really in your best interest to go out of your way in this area.

And finally, in order to have a successful eBay business, you must take it seriously and treat it like a job rather than a hobby. Work hard, periodically evaluate your progress, and continually try to improve and streamline your operations. It might take a while to see positive results, but by following this advice, success will come!

Ebay Auction Pricing Strategies: Ebay

Ebay Auction Pricing Strategies: Ebay

If your items aren’t selling, then you might have a bad pricing strategy. There as many pricing strategies in the world as there are buyers – if you look at two businesses selling the same thing, often the only difference you’ll be able to find between them is pricing.

The ‘Few Dollars More’ Strategy.

Here’s something you might not have thought of. If you set your auction’s starting price to what you would usually charge for Buy it Now, while setting the Buy it Now price a few dollars above, you can make a profit by setting off an interesting psychological reaction in the buyer’s mind.

Here’s what they’ll think. They want the item, but why should they bother bidding for it? After all, they could use Buy it Now for just a few dollars more, and be sure of getting it! Doing things this way makes the value of the Buy it now option extra clear to the buyer, and makes them more willing to pay extra for the privilege.

The ‘One Dollar Less’ Strategy.

This is simple, but requires you to keep an eagle eye on your competition. As soon as they start a Buy it now auction for an item you stock, start an auction for one of those items yourself. Match the title closely, but price your item one dollar less than theirs. This will mean that your auctions will sit together in the search results, and who’s going to see both and go for the one that’s a dollar more expensive?

The ‘Free Shipping’ Strategy.

Buyers really hate paying for shipping. With Buy it now, you might find it easier to incorporate the shipping cost into the main price of the item, and then write ‘free shipping’ in the auction’s title. You’d be surprised how many buyers would prefer to pay one price including shipping for the auction, instead of having shipping added on at the checkout. Again, this is psychological: they pay the same at the end, but it doesn’t feel like they’ve paid an unnecessary ‘extra’ cost for Internet shopping.

The ‘Go for It’ Strategy.

If you’d like a slightly more risky strategy, try this. List your item for the maximum duration (ten days), starting the listing on a Thursday so it goes across two weekends and finishes on a Sunday. Set the starting price to the minimum (one cent).

What you’re trying to do here is give bidd 1000 ers as long as possible to discover your auction, so that they push the price up themselves. Pay for a few upgrades like bold and highlight, to give them a helping hand. If you do this right, you can make a much bigger profit than you would have with any Buy it Now price, especially with a medium or high value item.

Since running your auction for longer means that more people see it, you should always take the longest duration of ten days, right? Not always. In the next email, we’ll talk about how long your eBay auction should run for.

An eBay Glossary, Understanding the eBay’s terms

While you are trying to make money on eBay have you expierence some issues trying to understand what people say on eBay? Well no need to worry anymore, even some of the jargon is really like a CIA code, and you don t understand it until someone’s told you what it means. Let me guide through this obscure path to the eBay s Lingo.  Bid: You Bid when you tell eBay’s system the maximum price you want to pay for an item. Dutch: Is a kind of auction where more than one of an item is available, yes you can buy more than one… Feedback: These are comments positive or negative left about other users on eBay (your love or heat to the buyers/sellers goes here). Mint: in perfect condition. Non-paying bidder: a bidder who wins an auction but does not buy the item (bad thing, really bad thing). PayPal: an electronic payment method accepted by most sellers (even I do). Rare: used and abused on eBay, now entirely meaningless, but somewhere in time were use to refer to an unique item, nowadays everything is rare. Reserve: the minimum price the seller will accept for the item. Shill bid: a fake bid placed by a seller trying to drive up their auction’s price (bad thing, really bad thing). Snail Mail: the post, which is obviously very slow compared to email. Sniping: bidding at the last second to win the item before anyone else can outbid you, this is difficult to do, but sure is fun! Abbreviations. AUD: Australian Dollar. Currency. BIN: Buy it Now. A fixed price auction. BNWT: Brand New With Tags. An item that has never been used and still has its original tags. BW: Black and White. Used for films, photos etc. CONUS: Continental United States. Generally used by sellers who don’t want to post things to Alaska or Hawaii. EUR: Euro. Currency. FC: First Class. Type of postage. GBP: Great British Pounds. Currency. HTF: Hard To Find. Not quite as abused as ‘rare’, but getting there. NIB: New in Box. Never opened, still in its original box. Collectors usually to their search with this keywords NR: No Reserve. An item where the seller has not set a reserve price. OB: Original Box. An item that has its original box (but might have been opened). PM: Priority Mail. PP: Parcel Post. SH: Shipping and Handling. The fees the buyer will pay you for postage. USD: United States Dollars. Currency. VGC: Very Good Condition. Not mint, but close. You can find more about this in the eBay Glossary page here. Find more about eBay Acronyms here Here is the entire list indexed by eBay The PowerSellers generally avoid using these terms unless you run out of space in the item s title. Think about the buyers, many of them are not familiar with these terms so if your niche is general public in order to make money on eBay don t overdo it, or the people will only read a lot of Mambo Jambo and skip to one who understand. What You Can not Sell on eBay

Most people think that you can sell anything on eBay. But let me put a big ‘ALMOST’ in the sentence. You can sell ‘almost’ anything on eBay. Yup there are some policies that you must understand before you try to sell.

Of course there some obvious things banned like drugs or stolen goods, and most of the banned items are because there is a law against it. But if you review the list of the items you may say naaaah how could it be! (but trust me there are in the list because people list those items, and other buy it).

Here is the Complete List of Prohibited and Restricted Items

For example the ‘Used Clothes’ category you may sell Diaper covers (as long as it has been cleaned and the listing clearly states that the clothing is used) But you can’t under any circunstance sell used underwear, so if you are planning on selling your last season thongs, don’t.

Embargoed Goods and Prohibited Countries. This apply to US mostly, you can’t sell items from prohibited countries, yes, that’s apply to the cigars and the Rum from Cuba. and also you can’t sell things to them thats mean no computers to Sudan, and no Plutonium to South Korea.

Human Remains and body parts, this may sound obvious but will be surprise on how many people has tried to sell a kidney.

Also you can not sell your Brad Pitt’s autograph if you don’t have a certificate of authenticity.

You can’t sell your Pokemon’s toys if there was intented to sell only in Japan.

You can’t sell firearms, assault weapons or knives, sorry Rambo you simply can’t.

No, you can’t sell eagle’s eggs either or panda’s fur.

No, you can’t sell to a phillipine guy a ticket for today’s madonna’s concert in New York.

You can’t sell New Zeland or Disneyland

What Could Happend if I try to sell those things

Well beside the fact that the auction will be cancelled you may also suffer for this things:

  • Listing cancellation
  • Limits on account privileges
  • Account suspension
  • Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings
  • Loss of PowerSeller statusm

As you can see, you may check on the prohibited and restricted listed before you list your precious items to sell.

Chris N.D.

The Different eBay Auctions Types

Hey guys, for those who are just starting making money on eBayor are in the perspective to know how to make money on the internet, in order to attend all sellers test eBay gives you many choices to place your auction, if you want to sell your item fast or if you want to get the most high bid possible. Here’s a brief introduction to the different kinds of auctions that eBay offers.
Normal Auctions.

These are the standard eBay auction, the auctions everyone knows: you list an item some guy bid, others outbid him, he bid again, and the winner gets the item. Simple and fun.
 Reserve Auctions.

This works if you don’t want your items to sell for less than a certain price, just like the normal auctions (yeah those with a guy with a hammer). They are like normal auctions on eBay, except that if the buyer does not meet the reserve price you set on his bid; they’ll need to bid again if they want the item. If nobody is willing to meet your price, then the auction is cancelled, and you keep the item.

Fixed Price (‘Buy it Now’) Auctions.

Buy it Now auctions can work in one of two ways. You can add a Buy it Now button to a normal auction, meaning that buyers can choose either to bid normally or to simply pay the asking price and avoid the whole bidding process. Some sellers, though, now cut out the auction process altogether and simply list all their items at fixed price. This lets you avoid all the complications of the auction format and simply list your items for how much you want them to sell for this is pretty much alike to the former eBay express. Here’s where most people are making money on eBay.

Recently, eBay added a twist to fixed price auctions: the ‘best offer’. This means that buyers can contact you to negotiate a price; this could be a good opportunity to sell some extra stock at a small discount. The only downside to reserve and fixed price auctions is that you pay a small extra fee to use these formats. For higher-priced items it is more profitable using reserve auctions and for lower-priced items the fixed price auctions is more reliable. But you can combine the two formats if you want.
 Multiple Item (‘Dutch’) Auctions.

These are auctions where you can sell more than one of a certain item. Dutch auctions can be done by bidding. Buyers bid a price and say how many items they want, and then everyone pays the lowest price that was bid by one of the winning bidders. These auctions are very rare and are a good opportunity to arm yourself with a stock for a lower price.

What is more common is when you have a lot of one item, and lists it using a combination of two auction types: a multiple-item fixed price auction. This just means that you can just say how many of the item you have, and offer them at a fixed price per unit. Buyers can enter how many they want and then just click Buy it Now to get them.
See? Is not that hard as you guess. Next time I will show you which items you must avoid to sell.

Ebay Newbie :Ebay Auction

Ebay Newbie : Ebay – Ebay Auction

eBay – the World’s Online Marketplace – is the place to go when you want to buy or sell anything on the Internet. eBay lets its members sell items on the Internet via Auctions, which entails bidding, and through the Fixed Price Format, which means that there is a set price for items on sale. eBay Auction is the more popular selling method between the two.

Selling on eBay

When selling on eBay, whether it is through eBay auction or the fixed price format, a person has to first register to be a member and then create a seller’s account. Credit card details or being ID Verified is needed to create a seller account. The next requirement is a picture of the item to be sold. This is required since most buyers want to see what the item actually looks like before buying anything.

The next thing to do is to get your item listed by clicking on the Sell Your Item button. After clicking on the button, be sure to give all the necessary information such as the item category, the title, item description, and the price, payment method, shipping costs, return policy, and payment methods. For your item to have a greater chance of being viewed by more prospective buyers you can list the item under more than one relevant category. Another effective strategy would be to have a very specific title that would most probably typed by prospective buyers as their search string.

To keep track of all your listings simply go to My eBay since it keeps track of all the items you’ve sold and are currently selling along with all the bids made on them as well as all the items you have bid on and are currently bidding on. My eBay also has a summary page, a favorites page, and your accounts page. As soon as the item is sold eBay will notify both the buyer and seller through email. Make sure that you communicate well with your buyer and notify the buyer that the item is being shipped as soon as you receive the payment.

In case you plan to sell your item through eBay Auction there are three prices you need to set before putting up the item n sale. First is the Starting Price. The Starting Price is simply the price you want the bidding to start. It is also usually the lowest price you feel that you can accept as payment for your item. Next is the Reserve Price. In case your starting price is lower than the amount you are wi 1000 lling to accept as payment you need to set the Reserve Price. Having a reserve price means that if the bidding ends with the highest bid still lower than the reserve price then your item will remain unsold. This price is concealed from buyers.

Last is the Buy It Now Price. The Buy It Now Price is the amount a buyer has to pay to get the item you are selling without having to bid. Both the Reserve Price and Buy It Now Price are optional. The reserve price can be advantageous since it will protect you from having to sell your item at too low a price but can also be disadvantageous since it may discourage buyers from bidding. The Buy It Now Price, on the other hand, is advantageous for buyers who really want to buy the item you are selling since there is no risk that they will be outbid if they automatically buy the item. It is also advantageous for you as the seller since it can hasten the transaction since you don’t have to wait for the bidding period to end. However, it can also be disadvantageous if there is much demand for the item you are selling since having a Buy It Now price will limit the amount bid even if some buyers might actually be willing to bid beyond that set price.

eBay charges the following fees to seller. The Insertion Fee, Additional Option Fees, and Final Value Fee. The Insertion Fee is a non-refundable fee charged for each item listed on eBay Auction. Insertion Fee ranges from $0.30 to $4.80. Additional Option fees are charged if you opt for additional features like the Buy It Now and if you want your item to be a Featured Item. The Final Value fee is charged depending on the closing price your item manages to garner after a successful close at eBay Auction.

Bidding on eBay Auction

To bid on an item in eBay Auction, click on the item you wish to buy to get to the item page. You can then place a bid by simply clicking on the Place Bid Button found on the right side of the picture. In case there is no such button it means that the item can only be bought at the set price and isn’t up for auction. When you place a bid the only price you will see is the starting price since the amount bid by other people will not be visible to you. Enter the maximum amount you will be willing to pay for the item you wish to purchase the click on the Place Bid Button. eBay Auction will automatically compare your bid with others and won’t bid the maximum amount you entered. Instead it will bid only what is needed to outbid the last bid. eBay Auction will do this automatically until it reaches the maximum amount you entered or you win the bid. In case another buyer outbids you eBay Auction will send you a notification so that you can enter a larger amount or at least know that you’ve been outbid.

In case you are bidding on a Reserve Price Auction check whether the current price bid has met the reserve price. If your maximum amount has been reached but the reserve price still hasn’t been met then you know for sure that you need to increase your bid since the item won’t be sold until the reserve price is met.

If you are nervous about bidding on an expensive item keep in mind that eBay has measures to protect both sellers and buyers from fraud. If you are simply nervous since it is your first time try bidding on cheaper items first before going on to more expensive stuff. You can actually find items for less than $1.00 on eBay auction.

Now You Can become an eBay PowerSeller in 90 Days

This is a review that I surprised myself with, I expected this to be a product about …well – Becoming an eBay Powerseller In 90 Days.

Strangely enough that is covered in the product John Thornhill has put together – but it’s actually much more than that.

Anyone who has ever tried to get to powerseller status on ebay will understand the reluctance of most people these days even trying for it.

The daily trudge to the post office, the annoying looks and stares from the customer waiting behind you in the queue, wondering just how many boxes you have in that bin liner you’re lifting to the counter scales….And that’s all before you’ve worked out how much it’s cost you in fuel, shoe leather, postage costs and ebays fees.

Is it surprising that only the thick skinned and extremely determined ever make it through?

It does make you wonder if they actually make a profit for all their effort?

Well that’s not what John Thornhill does at all.

John has been steadily tapping into the information product market on ebay, which is huge!

He sells digital downloadable materials and thereby avoids any trips to post items or costs involved, in fact all he has are his ebay fees and paypal fees.

It’s obvious John has a system in place that makes him money – as he has been trading on ebay for 5 years and he happily displays his his ebay id – planetsms, and his positive feedback of over 13,000.

Basically it’s easy to establish that John does very well from ebay. That said I’d be telling fibs if I didn’t admit that I had heard ebay was no longer of use for making major profits from. Anyone who has looked into ebay must have seen it’s critics, shouting loudly, that there is no longer any money to be made from selling ebooks!

And yet here is John proudly displaying his ID and claiming he can help anyone get to powerseller status in 90 day AND learn to duplicate his systems and make hundreds a day!!

So can he ?

Well an exploration of the package from the inside reveals firstly -

That everything stated on the salespage is actually included, there doesn’t appear to be any hype over the products contained.

You see John is offering not just his action plan, but everything that anyone would need to follow it (barring a domain name and hosting, and an autoresponder account) He includes a host of tools and products including a fully built website, listing templates and literally thousands of ebooks.

It has to be said that although John adds new ebooks monthly, a good deal of the older ones would either be better left or completely updated…. these are the ones you typically see people selling for 01 penny/cent. Personally I’d not waste my time messing about with them – there are so many recent and good quality products in the package there really is no need!

Here’s where it get’s interesting.

After you follow the step by step tutorials and get everything set up to sell the quantity’s required to achieve powerseller status, (by the way – if anyone was looking for a quick fix – you wont find it here. The system does require manual input of a couple of hours a day for those 90 days!)…. But given that anyone seeking to build a long term income online would be quite prepared for that, lets assume that powerseller status is reached within the 90 days…..

John then goes on to continue teaching, and frankly this is what impressed me more than his initial package, yes it’s impressive and yes it’s comprehensive. Yes it delivers everything promised on the salespage, and yes it requires work and effort following step by step what one needs to get done!

But John could quite easily have stopped at that having delivered what was promised, and yet he adds more instead. The breath of fresh air in the ‘make money online’ industry that has grown around people constantly over promising and under delivering comes from the lengths John goes to to ensure his members have learned what they really need to know.

It does briefly mention on the salespage that there is a members only forum, (but in fairness – how many sites don’t have one these days?) – the difference in the planetsms members forum is that John goes on to give more advice about maximising profits through his “Many Streams Make A River” concept….

He says on his salespage that he will cover affiliate marketing, and that is done in the tutorials, but the forum seems to be a hive of activity not just from John posting his advice, but from the many long term members who have built their own businesses and have stuck around to continue to offer advice to the newcomers.

With over 2000 registered users and over 30,000 posts, it seems to be the most valuable resource of the entire package!

Having viewed the contents and quality of the posts, no question is left unanswered and no affiliate links or advertising are mentioned in any save an ad section provided for members use.

So to conclude this review…

Question —– Can the 90 day powerseller package do what it claims?

Answer ——  In my opinion a definite Yes – IF one is prepared to follow step by step and put in the work initially required to get there….

But as I mentioned at the start, having looked at the entire package, it is far more than just about ebay. It’s about building a sustainable long term business online, incorporating many income streams, and giving all the advice, help and support needed for anyone to achieve these things….

Frankly – Surprising these days…. But Very Pleasantly So!.

The package can be viewed and ordered here, and also come with a 100% money back guarantee!
